Modern Bollywood Wedding Inspiration

This styled shoot was inspired first and foremost by the two models participating. These two lovebirds actually got engaged the day before the shoot at the Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum in Seattle! When dreaming up ideas for this shoot, we chose a color story of rich purples and gold to accent the deep navy of the couple's attire.

Leigh & Mitchell blew it out of the water with their floral designs. The backdrop with hanging foliage was one of our favorite details of the day! It framed the couple and the table perfectly. The bouquet and loose, textured centerpiece featured Anemones, Hellabore, Roses, Ranunculus, Pieres, Geranium Foliage, Rosemary & Spirea. Such an eclectic mix of flowers gave the tablescape a modern vibe.

Instead of a traditional big white wedding dress, we chose to showcase the culture of the bride and groom. They wore traditional attire from their Indian and Pakistani heritage. The bride’s navy blue Sari was the perfect compliment to the deep purple shades of the tablescape. Her headpiece was both silver and gold which tied in to the threading on her entire outfit. The groom’s navy and gold attire looked perfect next to his bride.

For the desserts, we wanted to take a modern approach while incorporating cultural elements. Seatown Sweets took this idea and created a perfect marriage between the two. The two-tiered cake was decorated in modern purple watercolor with gold foil touches while the top tier included a small Mehndi design. That was also showcased on the sugar cookies in varying purple shades, each one with a unique Mehndi design.

For the tablescape we wanted to go for a modern twist on the Bollywood theme. We incorporated traditional elements with the low table and pillow seating and merged them with a modern velvet table runner, ombre place cards, square gold chargers, and loose textured florals. And don’t forget the purple cutlery! It was such a unique element that really added to the table design.
